Children’s Foundation against new hospital plan

The founder of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation has spoken out against a fresh bid to locate the new national children’s hospital at the site of the Mater in Dublin.

It follows news that the Sisters of Mercy order has offered the old Mater building as part of a new proposal for a tri-location facility combining adult, maternity and paediatric services.

The Review Group into the National Paediatric Hospital is due to make a recommendation on the best site for the hospital next month.

Jonathan Irwin, founder of the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, says the Mater site is simply not suitable for easy access:
