Children’s Charity Back Calls to Axe New HSE Home Care Rule

A charity which provides care for seriously ill children has said a new rule which is being imposed on some of their families is making parents ‘prisoners in their own homes’.

It comes after a Sixmilebridge family told Clare FM’s Morning Focus that they feel they cannot sign up for a new care package for their ten-year-old son while the ‘in loco parentis’ cause is in place.

The rule requires a parent – or other adult – to be present at all times, alongside a healthcare professional.
