Clare’s Chief Superintendent has warned that any further cuts to resources will make it very difficult for him to maintain current low crime levels.

John Kerin was speaking after revealing new figures showing a further drop in recorded levels of crime here – with reductions in theft, burglaries, assaults and five other categories of crime.
This continued downward trend has come even though there are now 54 less Gardaí in the Clare division than in March of 2010, 14% of the total workforce.
Chief Superintendent Kerin fears crime will rise if there are any further cuts.
