Chief Superintendent hopes successful covert operations will deter other criminal activity

It’s believed the success of recent undercover garda operations targeting drug dealing and burglaries in Clare will serve as a deterrent to other criminals.

Following a 6 month covert operation – 8 people have appeared before the courts in the past week for the sale and supply of drugs while charges are also expected in relation a number of aggravated break-ins.

Clare’s Chief Superintendent John Kerin says while the procedures can be costly – they have proved very effective and may be the way forward in tackling certain criminal elements.
