Clare’s Chief Superintendent has moved to assure the communities of Ennistymon and Killaloe that proposed night -time closures of their local garda stations wont see a reduction in officer numbers.
Both stations are currently open on a 24 hour basis but John Kerin is recommending they be shut between the hours of 9 pm and 7 am to ensure officers are out on patrol overnight and not tied to office based duties.
The Chief Superintendent also confirmed that Ennis Garda Station will assume responsibility for the Killaloe District from April 22nd, while Ennistymon will subsumed into the Kilrush District at the same time-
Local representatives have expressed concern over night time closure of stations but speaking on Clare Fm’s Morning Focus, Chief Superintendent Kerin said it will lead to a better service for the public
