Chernobyl Children To Arrive In Clare

Chernobyl Children International is bringing over 100 special children from Belarus to Clare.

As part of the 30th Anniversary airlift, which takes children out of radiation affected regions for respite care, 150 children will land at Shannon Airport today.

The summer Rest and Recuperation Programme gives the children, who come from impoverished backgrounds and state-run institutions, a health-boosting reprieve from high levels of radiation to which they are exposed. 

Voluntary CEO and founder Adi Roche says it's always a great time for the children.
