The Manager of a Communtiy Creche in Clare says its cheaper for some parents to stay home and claim unemployment benefit than pay for childcare costs.

It follows a survey of more than 150 creches across the country which found that some parents are having to pay up to €25,000 a year for care for their young chidren with half of those at work earning less than €28,000 per year.
Maureen Keane says regardless of a number of governement schemes for community creches, parents are still struggling to cover costs.
