Charitable Status Proposed For New Maternity Hospital

A Fianna Fáil TD says that the proposed charitable status of the new national maternity hospital can work as long as safeguards are put in place.

There have been a number of calls for the state to take full ownership of the facility after it was announced that the Sisters of Charity was relinquishing its involvement in the project.

The plan is for the land on which it’s to be built to come under the ownership of a new charity called St. Vincent’s.
