Criminal charges are set to be brought against 2 anti war campaigners arising from a security breach at Shannon Airport last year.
The 78 year old woman and 60 year old man – who are members of the Galway Alliance Against War received letters from Shannon Gardaí stating the DPP is to press charges against them.
A summons will be issued at a later date.
On October 7th last year – security at Shannon Airport was raised when two people, carrying banners denouncing the US military use of the airport breached the perimeter fence.
The pair were apprehended as they made their way onto the main runway –
They were subsequently arrested and released without charge while a file was prepared for the DPP.
