Changes Announced For Killaloe Diocese

The Diocese of Killaloe has announced changes to the way in which four North Clare are to be administered.

Currently, there is one priest each in Crusheen, Tubber, Corofin and Ruan, which collectively make up the Imeall Boirne cluster.

Fr. Ger Nash, who is currently priest in Crusheen, relinquishes that role – he  has been appointed to the role of Director of Pastoral Development, and will continue as Diocesan Secretary.

Priests in the other three parishes – Fathers Pat O'Neill, Damien Nolan and Seamus Nohilly – will now share duties across the area.

Elsewhere, there are no other significant changes in the Clare part of the Diocese though Fr. Michael Geraghty, who is based in Tipperary, is now responsible for Social Media.

The changes take affect from next month.

The changes come against the backdrop of falling vocations over recent years, and the greater prevalence of parish clusters.

70 Killaloe priests are in full-time parish ministry.
