The Chair of Clare's Joint Policing committee claims the Justice Minister should have intervened earlier to prevent industrial action by Gardai.
Over 12 thousand members of the force are expected to withdraw their labour for the four Fridays in November, after the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors voted in favour of the move.
The GRA – representing rank and file gardai – had already decided to withdraw their labour – and have asked the Emergency Response and Regional Support units to report for duty on November 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th.
The Tánaiste and Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald says she's disappointed but is focused on finding a pathway to negotiation which are fair to their members, the taxpayer and other public sector workers.
However, Sixmilebridge Councillor PJ Ryan insists the situation should never have gotten to this stage.
