CEO Of Shannon Airport Leaves Role

The CEO of the Shannon Airport Group is leaving his position today, three months ahead of schedule.

It was already known that Neil Pakey was to leave his role in the summer, but he's now going on gardening leave as Clare FM's Gavin Grace reports.

Shannon Group plc has confirmed reports that Neil Pakey is taking leave from the compnay, effective today.

The former head of Liverpool's John Lennon Airport was appointed as the head of Shannon Group in 2013, months after Shannon gained independence.

Under his stewardhsip, passenger numbers at Shannon have grown by 22%, while the airport also won several international awards.

It was announced in December that his time in Shannon would come to an end in June, but he's now beginning a period of leave as the process to find his replacement gets underway.

Mary Considine, Shannon Group Company Secretary, has been appointed Acting CEO to oversee operations in the meantime.
