Preliminary results from this year's Census shows Clare's population has grown by 1,431 over the past five years.
The CSO has published its first findings from this year's survey, which also highlights the contined high number of vacant properties in the county.
Today's results are the first of the 27th census, held just 12 weeks ago, and show there are now 118,627 people living in Clare.
This marks a rise of 1.2% on the last census in 2011, with the population growth here slower than the figure nationally.
There's now a total of 4.76 million people living in this country.
Clare's population has increased even though the number of people moving away from the county has outstripped the numbers who have moved here by nearly 10 a week over the past five years.
There are 980 Clare men for every 1,000 women in the county, while despite a reduction there remains a large number of vacant properties in the county.
On the night of the census, nearly 6,500 homes were vacant, along with another 4,700 holiday homes.
That's nearly 20% of the county's housing stock, and the sixth highest of any county in Ireland.
