The celebrations can finally begin for Clare’s Leaving Certificate Students.
After five years of intensive studies, faculty and students alike of the class of 2023 greeted their results with mixed emotions.
At approximately 10am this morning over 62,000 students nationwide geared up in nervous anticipation to receive their Leaving Certificate Results.
Among them were 1,200 students across this county’s nineteen Post-Primary institutions, who either logged on to the State Examinations portal or visited their schools in person.
The class of 2023 faced unique challenges however, having no preparatory Junior Certificate to sit in 2021 and 2020 in the case of those who opted for transition year, due to cancellations owing to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
When the moment of truth finally arrived and the coveted results paper was unveiled, these students from St.Caimin’s Secondary School in Shannon expressed relief at their results.
However the students and faculty of St.Caimin’s faced a challenge this year that devastated the class of 2023, which one graduate says firmly united their group.
Aoife Johnston from Shanonn, who was due to sit her Leaving Certificate this year, tragically passed away in hospital in December.
Classmate, Conor Murphy from Sixmilebridge says it was an extremely difficult period for the school community to lose a cherished and valued friend.
With attentions now turning to first round CAO offers on Wednesday, the Principal of St.Caimins says the potential of students is limitless despite the result they may receive on paper.
Principal at St.Caimin’s Secondary School in Shannon, Alan Cunningham says every graduate will eventually find their way in the world.
