Celebrations As €3.65M Social Housing Development Opens In Ennis

There were widespread celebrations in Clare’s capital amid the official opening of a new social housing development.

The €3.65m age friendly An tArd complex has finally been unveiled to the public, trigger scenes of joy and relief among those in attendance.

The words of Sineád Clancy there, who had spent three years couch surfing and depending on the charity of friends while awaiting an offer of social housing.

Although the new residents of An tArd on the Clon Road officially moved in February, today at the official unveiling of the complex, brought widespread scenes of celebration.

The €3.65m turnkey project was brought to life by Guildoc Construction, with Saint Vincent De Paul through the St. Benedict’s Conference, Clare County Council and the Department of Housing funding and delivering the scheme.

The 12 homes themselves are all age friendly ‘A’ rated energy units, with four providing wheelchair access

President of St Benedict’s Housing Conference, Tom Tiernan is hopeful of delivering plenty more in the near future.
