Midwest Simon has given a cautious welcome to new measures aimed at tackling the housing crisis, which will restrict short-term lettings.
Under new plans announced by the Housing Minister, homeowners will still be able to rent out a room on sites like AirBnB, but there will be a limit on the period of time an entire family home can be offered for rent.
It comes as the latest figures from the Department of Housing show a marginal fall in the number of homeless adults in Clare and Limerick in September, though the number of homeless children has gone up slightly.
Housing Support Team Leader with Mid-West Simon, Tracy Reddy has been telling Clare Fm’s Fiona Cahill that she hopes initiatives like this will start to make an impact on the level of homelessness in the Midwest.
