Residents at Ballycar near Newmarket on Fergus have given a guarded welcome to Council plans for flood alleviation works there.

Five families there have been forced to to traverse through fields to reach their homes for a number of weeks, because a local road has been submerged under water.
Clare County Council says it will look to raise the road once water subsides, and hopes to carry out works this year provided funding is made available.
Local resident Hillary Gough has welcomed this commitment, but says people there are still disappointed with the local authority's efforts to date.
