The Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council has described comments by the Taoiseach on social housing as "grossly unfair".
A war of words has erupted nationally after Enda Kenny said that it's "about time" that local authorities got "back to the business of providing houses" having been given the money, opportunities and incentives to open sites that are off limits.
Mr Kenny said Councils have "lost the skill" to help the people they represent.
But Councillor Bill Chambers has refuted the claims saying Clare County Council has already kick-started the process of providing housing here.
And Councillor Chambers hopes to see a massive reduction in the social housing list in the near future/
