The Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council has joined in the growing calls for an urgent upgrading of the county's ambulance service.

Local representatives discussed the state of the service during last night's monthly meeting, following a number of incidents which have flagged gaps in cover due to what unions say is a shortfall of staff.
Ennis area Councillor James Breen described the service as 'shameful and disgraceful' and is urging the Health Minister to take action.
