The owner of a cat sanctuary in Cloonlaheen is praising the actions of Clare Gardaí for the vital assistance provided to the shelter during the recent spell of cold weather.
Supplies of cat litter and perishable food in An Cat Dubh Sanctuary ran dangerously low due to the lack of road access to the sanctuary caused by high volumes of snow and ice.
Owner, Dr Rhona Lucas, put out a call for help on social media which was promptly answered by Gardaí from Ennistymon Garda Station, who collected and delivered supplies to the sanctuary.
Rhona, who is 82 and fitted with a pacemaker, says the help received was essential due to regular volunteers also unable to gain access to the sanctuary.
