It's understood the 'cash-in-transit' escort security, which has been removed from deliveries outside Dublin, ceased operating two weeks ago.
It's the first time money is to be transferred between banks – without any armed escort – for the first time since the height of the Troubles.
Reporter with the Irish Independent, Emma Jane Hade, says its believed the move is due to financial constraints.
