Carrigaholt Castle Walkway Opening Up To Public This Week

Carrigaholt Castle is to see a walkway open up for use by the public.

The five storey tower house was built in about 1480 and is known as one of Ireland’s best preserved ‘town houses’.

It’s understood Clare County Council supported the measure, though the Castle itself is to remain closed to the public.

Sue Magee of the Carrigaholt Development Association says it’s the first step towards renovating the area and making it a viable tourist destination.
