Pascal Carmody faces 9 charges relating to the treatment of two patients  – 15 year old Conor O Sullivan from Wexford who died from an aggressive bone cancer and 58 year old Kilkenny man John Sheridan – who died from Liver cancer.

Family members of the deceased told Ennis Circuit Court the former GP recommended photodynamic therapy which he said could cure their cancer- or keep the patients alive – Conor O Sullivan’s parents said  they paid over 9600 euro for PDT  while the Sheridans paid almost 7000 euro for the same treatment

However Pascal Carmody insisted he never said that he could cure cancer or keep either patient alive while varying medical experts gave evidence on the uses of PDT in the treatment of cancerous tumours.

Closing arguments for the Killaloe man’s defence will conclude this morning, before Judge Donagh McDonagh delivers his final charge to the Jury
