A Clare Fine Gael TD is calling on the government to increase its Christmas bonus for welfare recipients to the full 100 percent.
Joe Carey wants to see the rate upped from the 85 percent being awarded to those on social welfare this festive season.

The Christmas Bonus is being paid out to over 1.2 million social welfare recipients this week at a total cost of €219 million euro.
Though it’s too late to influence the rate this year, Deputy Carey believes it should be on the agenda for next Christmas.
