Cardinal Sean Brady has confirmed he has offered his resignation as Primate of All Ireland and Archbishop of Armagh.

The 74 year old has been criticised over his role in handling child sex abuse allegations in the Catholic Church.
In a statement, he says if Pope Francis accepts his resignation, Archbishop Eamon Martin will replace him as head of the Catholic Church in Ireland.
