49 people were killed and 53 injured when a gunman opened fire at a gay nightclub in the city in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The vigil, organised by the Limerick LGBT community, is taking place at Arthur's Quay Park at 6.30.
Organiser Richard Lynch says gay clubs are seen as a sanctuary for members of their community.
