The West on Track Group say their fight for the re-opening of West Rail Corridor will be an election issue.

A campaign has been waged for many years along the west coast, calling for a rail service which would operate between Ennis and Sligo.
The present government has indicated no plans to opening the line, saying that – rather than expanding the existing network – they wish to prioritise maintaining the rail infrastructure already in place.
However, Michael O'Doherty from West on Track says operating both passenger and freight services is economically viable.
