A Clare Healthcare Campaigner says she’s praying that a second new 96-bed block planned for University Hospital Limerick won’t be further delayed by a judicial review.
This week, the first of three proposed new bed blocks aiming to reduce overcrowding at the Dooradoyle facility opened to patients for the first time.
While no planning application or commitment beyond inclusion in the UHL site’s masterplan has been made for a third block, the second-block only received planning permission this week, following a lengthy appeals process.
UHL remains by far the most overcrowded facility in the country today, with 107 patients languishing on trolleys according to the INMO.
Friends of Ennis Hospital Chair Angela Coll says the need for enhanced services has to outweigh traffic concerns.
