Calls For Works On Old Latoon Bridge Fall On Deaf Ears

An effort from a Clarecastle-based Councillor to extend repair works onto a second bridge over the Latoon Creek has fallen on deaf ears.

One Million Euro was recently earmarked for the replacing of the deck on the newest of the three bridges that span the East Clare stream.

Additional funds were sought for repair works on the oldest of three bridges, to ensure connectivity for the local community while the deck is replaced on the other.

But Clare County Council insists that funding is not available and the proximity of the bridges raises health and safety concerns.
