The Clare Leader Forum is calling for a sea change approach to the eligibility criteria for members of the disabled community hoping to obtain a primary medical certificate.
The Cert recognises holders as ‘severely’ or ‘permanently’ disabled and allows bearers access to funding to carry out vehicle adaptations under the ‘Disabled Drivers and Passengers Scheme’.
However, there are currently 1,007 outstanding appeals lodged to the HSE for those seeking a PMC, while the board responsible for processing requests resigned 18 months ago.
