A Clare Independent TD is criticising the governments delay in implementing contractual guarantees for water workers affected by a national reconfiguration.
Over 3,000 water workers from over 30 Local Authorities including Clare County Council will begin industrial action next Wednesday amid concerns about protections of earnings as the responsibility for their work is transferred to Uisce Eireann.
SIPTU claims waterworkers who chose to be redeployed to other areas of the Local Authority will lose up to €600 a month due to a loss of weekend allowances.
Speaking in the Dáil, Scariff based TD, Michael McNamara says staff are facing into lasting financial ramifications unless immediate corrective action is taken by government.
