Calls For Urgent Enhancement Of Clare Forestry Activity

The EPA, however has targeted an annual national afforestation rate of 8,000 hectares to sequester enough carbon to meet Ireland’s climate goals, with just 25% of this total achieved countrywide in 2022.

Darragh based forester and former Green Party Councillor Brian Meaney says the shortfall poses serious environmental and economic problems.
