Calls have been made for a swimming area and lifeguard station to be opened in Doolin.
Councillor Liam Grant has proposed the designated swimming area, citing the popularity of water activities in West Clare in the likes of Lahinch and Spanish Point.

The Lahinch native has called on the West Clare Municipal District to “engage with local community groups about what developments are taking place at Doolin Pier”.
He says that it is possible for recreational activities in Doolin to take place without hindering the town’s thriving tourism industry.
