Calls For Secondary School To Be Established In Sixmilebridge

A Clare government TD claims a new post-primary school is urgently required in the South-East of the county to prevent uncertainty and dissarray for young people.

Sixmilebridge is now the fastest growing town in the county with a population of 2,584.

The wider catchment area is currently served by three secondary schools across Shannon and Tulla, but students can also apply for one of 17 institutions in Limerick’s Common Application System, which is regularly oversusbcribed.

Meelick Fianna Fáil Deputy Cathal Crowe believes a new school for Sixmilebridge is the only way to tackle the capacity problem.
