Calls For Restrictions At Maternity Hospitals To Be Lifted For Christmas

Calls have been made in Clare for restrictions at maternity hospitals to be eased so that expectant mothers won’t have to give birth alone on Christmas Day.

The HSE has asked hospitals to allow partners of pregnant women to attend the 20-week scan, after months of not being allowed in, due to COVID concerns, though the decision is up to each individual facility.

Campaigner Ciara McGuane from Kilnamona, who is one of the thousands of women who has given birth in the midst of the pandemic, is calling for investment in testing for partners, so that mothers can have an essential support while giving birth.
