Calls For Positive Discrimination For Clare Businesses On Hospitality VAT Rate

A Clare Government Senator wants hospitality businesses in this county to be positively discriminated towards in the VAT rate for the sector.

The rate for the industry is to go back up to 13.5 percent in March, having been reduced to 9 percent during the height of COVID-19 restrictions.

It’s led to suggestions from proprietors in this county that they are being discriminated against for alleged price gouging in Dublin hotels.
