Calls On Government For Shannon Marketing Campaign

The Government’s been urged to invest funds in a marketing drive for Shannon Airport, in order to fully exploit incentives announced as part of the jobs initiative.

The travel tax to be abolished from July, while a new 9% vat rate for tourism related activities is to be implemented, but tourism representatives in the county say the message regarding these moves now needs to be spread.

The county’s government TDs insist the measures will proivde Clare’s tourism sector with a major boost, but Michael Vaughan, Vice President of the Irish Hotels Federation, says more needs to be done.
