Calls on finance minister to help Shannon airport

The Finance Minister is to be asked to lead the fight for a stronger Shannon Airport by members of Clare County Council.

As recommendations on the future structure of Ireland’s Airport are considered by the Minister for Transport, it’s claimed his cabinet colleague Michael Noonan should be part of a new mid-west task force aimed at securing Shannon’s future, particularly as he’s a Limerick TD.

Clare Councillors expressed concerns this week that Shannon could face even tougher challenges if forced to compete against Dublin and Cork airports on its own, but in the meantime, Ennis Fianna Fail representative Pat Daly said politicians throughout the Mid-west should join forces
