Clare County Council is seeking the public’s help in tracking a small migratory bird, which is in rapid decline.

Swifts normally spend the summer months in Ireland, nesting in small crevices in buildings, but renovations or the demolition of properties have left many of these with no home.

The local authority, together with Birdwatch Ireland is asking people to report any sightings of the Swift so efforts can be made to preserve their numbers.
