Calls are being made for a dedicated action plan to combat the prevalence of unoccupied properties in Kilrush.
The latest GeoDirectory report shows the West Clare town has a commercial vacancy rate of 24.7% , the eighth highest total nationwide.

Clare County Council currently has 19 active derelict site files in the town, while another premises has been acquired for re-development as a social housing unit.
Cathaoirleach of the West Clare Municipal District, Kilrush Independent Councillor, Ian Lynch believes a strategy similar to Ennis 2040 is required to attract new business.
