Clare County Council is to consider increased incentives for private tour operators as part of efforts to entice visitors to prolong their stay in this county.
Concerns have been raised over a high numbers of day trips to our tourist hotspots and Meelick Councillor Cathal Crowe has called on the local authority and Shannon Heritage to put measures in places to incentivise overnight stays.
The council has said that measures have already been introduced at the Cliffs of Moher and that number of stakeholders will be consulted as part of the preparation of the Clare Tourism Strategy which is commencing this year.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Crowe says most people want to see more tourism in this county.
