Clare’s Independent TD insists Ennis General Hospital could be put to better use if funds in the UL Hospitals Group were spread more evenly.
Dr Michael Harty’s comments follow confirmation from both the hospital group and the Health Minister that Medical Assessment Unit services at Ennis won’t be scaled back.
Despite this, Dr Harty believes not enough money within the group is being put into the hospital in Ennis, with too much focus on University Hospital Limerick.

He believes the whole system is suffering because of what he says is an unfair distribution of resources in the local hospital network.
