Calls For Government To Compel Dublin To Transfer Flights To Shannon To Relieve Pressure

There are calls in the Midwest for the Department of Transport to compel the DAA to transfer flights from Dublin to Shannon given the ongoing crisis at the capital’s airport.

The DAA is struggling to recruit 300 staff needed to return the country’s main airport to normal service, leading to long queues and passengers missing flights as a result.

The CEO of Limerick Chamber says the country’s regional airports including Shannon are underutilised and are an obvious solution to the problem.

Dee Ryan says we need to recognise that passengers can be accommodated outside of Dublin.
