Calls for Tax Revenue To Return to Clare

The government’s being urged to allocate property tax revenue directly towards the maintenance of Clare’s towns.

It follows the release of figures from Revenue that show that County Clare had a 90% property tax compliance rate.

However these funds have been sent to central government this year and Clare Councilors say people here have been let down by government, after they were told the county won’t reap the benefits of this year’s Property Tax receipts.

Ennis Fianna Fail Cllr Brian Meaney says monies should be given to town councils for general use in the community and to encourage people to pay the charge next year.
