A spokesperson from the Health Service Executive in the Mid West has again called on people to avoid attending the emergency department at Limerick Regional Hospital today if at all possible.

38 patients are currently being treated on trolleys and chairs in the A&E and adjacent corridors  awaiting admission.

Health Forum West member and Clare Councillor Brian Meaney says its unacceptable to ask potential patients to stay away and is urging the HSE to consider restoring emergency care at Ennis General Hospital.
