A former Mayor of Clare is calling on the GAA to contribute to the holiday funds of the Clare and Cork senior hurlers, as the teams prepare to contest the All Ireland Hurling Final Replay.

Last Sunday’s drawn game gives the GAA another sell-out of Croke Park, worth an estimated 2.75m euro despite reduced ticket prices.
Ennis Fianna Fail Councillor Pat Daly, chairman of the Eire Og club in the town, has now written to Croke Park to ask officials to give a total 300,000 euro to both squads, used to fund the players’ annual trip abroad. Galway and Kilkenny received a combined 100,000 euro when they contested a replay last year.
