Clare County Council has been asked to acknowledge it's own historic role as a local health authority which sent young unmarried women to the Kilrush Mother and Baby Home as well as the Good Shepperd Laundry in Limerick during the 1940's and 50's.

Ennis Councillor Mary Howard says the council should issue an apology for the torment suffered by both mothers and babies in such instituions.
