Clare Councillors are calling for new legislation to allow nudist bathing, and for local authorities to be allowed make decisions in this regard.
Following calls for more designated nude bathing areas by the Naturists Association in Ireland, Ennis Green Councillor Brian Meaney revealed the practice is actually against the law, but said legislation should be changed to allow the council capitalise on new kinds of tourism.
The meeting heard there’s a long established practice of bathing in the nip in Kilkee, and while some councillors called on Councillor Meaney to stop clowning around, Ennistymon’s Martin Conway backed the Green party member’s idea
