The Clare County Chair of the IFA says TB compensation ceilings must be increased as almost 1,000 herd restrictions have been imposed in Clare in the last five years.
Figures released by the Department of Agriculture show 987 herd restrictions were imposed in Clare between 2021 and 2025.

At the moment, the most compensation farmers can receive following the identification of TB is capped, despite independent valuers attributing a higher appraisal to the stock.
Feakle farmer Stephen Walsh, says at present, farmers are being left drastically out of pocket.
