The Health Minister is being urged to take action to introduce new GP contracts as a matter of urgency.
Lahinch-based Dr Michael Kelleher says a shortage of doctors, combined with an aging population, is an impending crisis.

Clare has 47 GPs for every 100,000 people here – the figures for Galway and Limerick stands at 68 and 61 respectively.
Dr Kelleher – a member of the IMO GP Committee – says that until more favourable contracts are introduced, it will be almost impossible to recruit new family doctors.
